For when you’re coping on the outside, but something doesn’t feel right.

You may have reached a point where something needs to change, even if you are not quite sure what that change looks like. Perhaps you feel anxious, low or overwhelmed, a relationship is causing you pain, or you keep finding yourself caught in patterns you don't fully understand.

Therapy offers a place to slow things down and begin making sense of what is happening. Not only how you are feeling, but what may lie underneath it.

My approach is rooted in existential psychotherapy. This means we can explore not only what is happening in your life now, but the deeper questions beneath it: who you are, the relationships and experiences that have shaped you, what matters to you, and how you want to live. I also draw on psychodynamic thinking to explore patterns that may have developed through earlier relationships and experiences, particularly when they seem to be repeating in the present.

My work is rooted in existential psychotherapy and psychodynamic thinking, and is also shaped by mindfulness, Buddhist philosophy and an interest in spirituality, meaning and how we choose to live. For clients who want to explore these areas, therapy can offer space for psychological and spiritual questions to sit alongside one another. No particular belief system is assumed or required.

I am a BACP-registered psychotherapist with an MA and postgraduate training in Counselling and Psychotherapy, alongside a background in Addiction Psychology.

I can support you with:

  • Anxiety, low mood and feeling overwhelmed

  • Relationship difficulties and repeating patterns

  • Addiction and dependency

  • Loss, change and difficult life transitions

  • Self-esteem, identity and questions of meaning or purpose

  • Spirituality, meaning, purpose and questions about how you want to live.

  • Feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure of what you want

Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you have never done it before. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong, or what you want to change. We can begin with where you are.

I offer in-person therapy in Oxted, Surrey, as well as online sessions. If you are considering therapy, you are welcome to book an initial session to see whether working together feels right for you.

Former client

“I can’t recommend Emma enough. I had not tried therapy before and remember feeling so nervous! Emma put me at ease from the very first session and for the first time in a long time I felt someone was finally listening. I was only planning six sessions but ended up staying for two years.”

Former client

“Emma has been really helpful for me over the last 15 months. I am reassured that if (most likely when) I ever need to return, she is there.”
